Let’s Build upon the Excellence of Mendham High School

October 2025

Dear Mendham Borough Residents,

Thank you for taking a few minutes to learn more about Mendham High School, my campaign for re-election to the Board of Education, and why I care so much about this community. I’ve always believed in being open and transparent—both in how I run my campaign and how we support our schools. For more,

Over the past nine years on the Board, including four as Chair of the Finance Committee, I’ve seen firsthand how much we can accomplish when we work together. We’ve expanded opportunities for students, upgraded facilities, supported teachers, and exercised financial discipline. But there’s still more to do—and I’m excited about what comes next.

Some Highlights from the Past Few Years

Programs Expanded

  • We added an IB Career Path to our existing strong Academic, AP and IB Diploma programs to give students more choices—whether they’re college-bound or exploring different  career directions. For more on the IB program click:

  • We launched Unified Sports, creating chances for students with and without disabilities to compete side by side.

Better Facilities

  • We’ve made major additions and upgrades to the school: Stadium lights; bleachers; track; bathrooms; media center; modern lighting; fitness center; science room; culinary arts room; cafeteria and kitchen; field house and turf fields. Click link for pictures.

  • Up next: renovating the tech room, replacing parts of the roof, and installing air conditioning to make classrooms more comfortable.

Strong Results

  • WMM excels in music, world languages, mock trial, robotics, and AI programs.

  • We’re ranked 20th among comprehensive (non-magnet) high schools in NJ.

  • 97% of AP students score 3 or higher; 94% of IB Diploma candidates earn a Diploma; and 88% of IB Career Certificate candidates earn a Certificate.

Fiscal Discipline

  • We’ve stayed within the 2% budget cap most years, despite soaring healthcare, transportation, and supply costs.

  • We negotiated fair, five-year contracts with our teacher’s union and other bargaining units.

  • And we passed a referendum that lowered debt costs while funding numerous improvements to the school.

Where I Want to Focus Next

Great Teachers = Great Schools

  • Teachers make all the difference. We need to keep attracting and supporting excellent educators, especially in hard-to-fill areas like math, science, and foreign language. Our IB program is a big attraction for top talent, and we need to keep it strong while building new partnerships with colleges to bring in new talent.

Smart Use of Technology

  • WMM is a leader among high schools in New Jersey to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into teaching and learning, fostering AI literacy and ethical awareness among students and educators. We received a state grant for this work. We’ll keep learning from what works and make it even better. Click on the link to view our approach.

More Career Pathways

  • Four-year college is just one of many great options. We’ll do more to help students and families understand the opportunities in vo-tech, county college programs, and the IB Career track so every student finds a path that fits.

Stronger Literacy Skills

  • Data analysis of recent test results for 9th graders did not meet our expectations, particularly for males. Although this is a state-wide issue, we must do better at the local level. The district already has put an action plan in place, and I’m committed to helping make real progress in this area. Click link to view our district goals.

I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together at Mendham High School—but I’m even more excited about what we can do next. Excellence is a journey, not a destination. Please re-elect me to continue and build on the MHS journey through a culture that respects differing viewpoints and encourages compromise.

Thank you for your support—and for all you do to make our town a great place to live and learn.

Warm regards,
